An independent desk for better home decisions
Selectlalistjungl Homes is a small editorial team of renovators, interior enthusiasts and researchers based in Leeds, writing for homeowners and renters everywhere.
Why we exist
Renovation advice online tends to fall into two camps: glossy inspiration with no practical detail, or technical forums that assume you already know the jargon. We sit between them. Every guide pairs visual ideas with the measurements, ratings and standards that decide whether those ideas will work in a real home.
How we rank
Rankings are based on four questions we ask of every option: Is it useful every day? Will it last? How much effort does it take to maintain? Will it still look good in ten years? Price is reported separately, so you can weigh value yourself. We revise rankings when materials, standards or prices change significantly.
Sources we rely on
We reference recognized bodies and standards, including the National Kitchen & Bath Association, the Home Ventilating Institute, the US National Electrical Code, the International Residential Code, UK Building Regulations, the Janka hardness test, laminate AC ratings, FloorScore and FSC certification, ENERGY STAR and the Matter smart-home standard. Where a figure is a rule of thumb rather than a requirement, we label it as such.
Independence
We do not accept paid placements, sponsored rankings or free products in exchange for coverage. We are not contractors and do not sell renovation services. Nothing on this site replaces advice from a licensed professional who has seen your home.
